![]() Diagram or Graphic; 1. Branchlet with upright corymbs (a - d) are terminating leafy shoot. At the base of the shoots there are deciduous sheeth-like transitional leaves. - 2. Branchlet with ripe fruits - double samaras (a, b). Wings of samaras are spreading perpendicular to the pedicels (»horizontally spreading«). Nutlets are conspicuously flat. - 3. Seedling with cotyledons (c) and first pair of ordinary leaves. - 4. Winter-branchlet; buds are reddish-brown, leaf-scars opposite and connected extreme laterally. - 5.
